Lee Evans is the Conservative candidate for Ellesmere Port & Bromborough.
In a message to voters, Lee said:
I'm honoured to be your candidate for the general election. This community means a lot to me. I was born on the Wirral and moved to Ellesmere Port when I was five. After studying at the Whitby High School and Wirral Grammar School, I became the first in my family to go to university and today work in education.
For me, people always come before politics - and the people of Ellesmere Port & Bromborough are at the heart of my plan to make our area an even better place to live, work, raise a family and retire. With your support, I'll deliver it as our next Member of Parliament.
Lee's six-point plan for Ellesmere Port & Bromborough:
1. MORE INVESTMENT IN OUR TOWNS AND HIGH STREETS.
£13 million from the government's Levelling Up Fund is already being spent in Ellesmere Port to revamp the market hall and improve the town centre. But I want to see more investment right across the towns and villages of Ellesmere Port & Bromborough. I'll work across party politics to secure more funding, create better jobs and help the high streets and shopping areas in our area thrive.
2. TAX CUTS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES.
Nobody is in any doubt about how difficult the cost of living has been over the past few years, especially when the war in Ukraine sent energy prices soaring. One of the best things the government can do to help people with the cost of living is reduce their taxes. That's why the government has cut employee National Insurance from 12% to 8% - saving the average worker £900. I will always fight for a fairer tax system, with lower taxes on working families to help you keep more of your hard-earned money.
3. PROTECTING HERITAGE AND GREEN SPACES.
Our area is home to some great heritage and valuable green spaces - from Port Sunlight to Eastham Country Park to the Boat Museum in Ellesmere Port. As our MP, I will work with local community groups to protect our heritage and nature to make sure that Ellesmere Port & Bromborough is always a place you're proud to call home.
4. AN OUTSTANDING EDUCATION AT EVERY STAGE OF LIFE.
Education was the leg up in life that I needed - and that’s what I want it to be for other people, too. I will fight for more opportunities for people to gain the skills they need to succeed. That means high standards in local schools, delivering more apprenticeships, and a bigger role for FE colleges - giving people the opportunity to gain new skills at every stage of life.
5. DIGNITY IN RETIREMENT.
You deserve dignity in retirement. That’s why the Conservatives introduced the triple lock on pensions, meaning the state pension for an individual, which was just over £5,000 when Labour was last in office, is almost £9,000 today. A re-elected Conservative government will go further still and introduce the 'triple lock plus,' meaning that you will never pay income tax on your state pension.
6. MORE DOCTORS AND NURSES IN OUR AREA.
We've all depended on our NHS at some point in life. But for too many people, waiting times are too long. I will back innovative solutions to bringing down waiting lists, including an enhanced role for pharmacies, more GP appointments and the use of better technology across our healthcare system
