Labour are raising Council Tax for residents across Ellesmere Port & Neston AGAIN.
At Budget Council on 17 February 2022, Labour announced a 1.99% Council Tax increase. A rise of 2% or more would have been put to a local referendum, thanks to the Conservative government cap on Council Tax increases.
An extra 1% rise will be used to fund social care costs.
A spokesperson for Ellesmere Port & Neston Conservatives said:
"After Labour's £40 Green Bin Tax, now we have the maximum possible Council Tax increase, too. When it comes to raising taxes on local residents, Labour just can't help themselves.
"It's time for change on the Council. We look forward to holding Labour to their record at the ballot box in May 2023."
Local Conservative Councillors voted against the tax rise.
