Ellesmere Port & Neston Conservatives have welcomed the news that Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port plant will build a new fleet of electric vans.
The news of £100 million investment, with the UK Government contributing, will safeguard over 1,000 factory jobs at the site.
Cllr Margaret Parker, Leader of the Conservative Group on Cheshire West & Chester Council, said:
"The announcement today that electric vans will be built at the Vauxhall plant in Ellesmere Port is fantastic news!
"This will secure the future of around 1000 jobs at the site and is a major - and very reassuring - boost to the local economy, our highly skilled automotive workforce and the climate as we transition to net zero."
Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng said:
"Ellesmere Port's proud tradition in auto manufacturing will continue for many years to come thanks to today's investment. In this global race to secure electric vehicle production, we are proud to support Britain's auto sector in this crucial transition as we work to build back better."
