Congratulations to Councillor Dominic Roberts. At the Annual Meeting of the Neston Town Council on 21st May Cllr Dominic Roberts was elected as Chairman of the Council for the ensuing year. In Neston Town Council tradition, Cllr Roberts adopted the title of Mayor as he was entitled to in accordance with Local Government Act 1972 s245 (6).
Cllr Roberts said “I’d like to thank Councillors for electing me as the chair for the next year. It’s a privilege to take this position and I promise to work for the benefit of Neston. I would also like to thank Cllr Pat Kynaston for her leadership over the last two years, she was a very safe pair of hands and will be a tough act to follow. I am also especially pleased to have Cllr Christine Warner as deputy mayor over the coming year.
I am very excited and optimistic for the next council period we have a real opportunity to modernise and consider what our vision should be and how we can drive this forward.
My focus for this mayoral year will be to help promote and support the town’s young people, and in particular physical activity. In support of this, my mayoral local charities for the year will be: Neston Community Youth Centre and Neston Nomads Football Team. These are two fantastic groups that we should all be proud of and I am delighted to have the opportunity to support them in raising funds.”
At the meeting, although absent, Cllr Christine Warner was elected as Deputy Mayor and later said “I am honoured to accept the role of Deputy Mayor of Neston. I look forward to working with Cllr Dominic Roberts, for the benefit of Neston”
