Labour’s record of failure on Cheshire West & Chester Council has been condemned by local campaigners who are demanding better value for money for Council Tax payers.
A shocking example of Labour’s mismanagement is their delivery of the ‘Best4Business’ IT project. After initially promising that the project would cost £11.8 million, projected costs have soared to over £25 million as the Council have failed to manage the project or keep costs under control. The current liability to Cheshire West & Chester Council Tax payers is £6.5 million - and likely to be much more.
Steve Wastell, the Conservative candidate for Little Neston ward, said: “Each and every day, I walk around this area and I see the underinvestment from the Council. They give us the same old excuses about a lack of money. But the truth is they have wasted millions of pounds on a failed IT contract that could have been spent improving our borough. It’s clear this administration can’t be trusted to spend your money wisely. It’s time for change.”
Local Conservatives have published a positive manifesto of policies that will make Cheshire West & Chester a cleaner, greener and safer borough. Among the Conservative pledges are plans to scrap the “Green Bin Tax”, reintroduce “Free After 3” parking and increase spending on the maintenance of roads and pavements.
By streamlining Council services and engaging staff in efficiencies to deliver savings, local Conservatives have pledged to keep costs under control and end 8 years of eye-watering Council Tax rises from Labour.
