Local Conservatives have announced that Alison Rodwell will be their candidate for the General Election on December 12th. In her first announcement of the General Election campaign, Alison promised to "back Boris Johnson all to way to make sure we get Brexit done."
Rodwell, a businesswoman from Cheshire, will be going up against the incumbent Labour MP who has held the seat since 2015.
Alison Rodwell said:
"I’m delighted to be standing up for Ellesmere Port and Neston in this election, but this election isn't about me - it's about you. That's why I'll be spending the next five weeks listening to your priorities and explaining the choice we face on December 12th: Boris Johnson or Jeremy Corbyn, Brexit delivered or more dither and delay; a well-run economy funding excellent public services, or economic chaos with Corbyn and McDonnell.
"The people of Ellesmere Port and Neston voted to leave the EU, but the Labour Party has done everything it can to cancel your Brexit votes. If elected on December 12th, I'll back Boris Johnson all the way to make sure we get Brexit done, boost funding for our NHS, put 20,000 new police officers on the street and deliver more money for every school in Ellesmere Port and Neston. That's my pledge to you."
Lee Evans, Chairman of Ellesmere Port & Conservatives, added:
"Like many people who grew up in Ellesmere Port and Neston, I'm sick of Labour taking votes for granted in the General Election then simply ignoring our votes in the referendum. It's time for a different kind of MP, an MP who actually listens to their constituents’ wishes. That’s why I’m backing Alison Rodwell.”
Polling day for the General Election is Thursday December 12th.
